Workout Approved Makeup (for the busy

Fitness. Lawd. I just…man, you know what? I’ve really gotta get it together this year. Here’s the thing. In 2014 I ran a total of 10 races. Yes y’all. Me. This never been an athlete in her life chick joined Black Girls Run and…was a black girl that ran. Pretty freaky stuff. But I’ve got A LOT to do including dropping a loooot of weight and quitting the “OMGGGG, I don’t have time because I work full time and my husband travels and I’m a mom” excuses.

So. I’ve been getting it in. Very excited to bounce back on board with my Makeup Wars sisters as we highlight some of our favorite workout approved cosmetics.

Now don’t you start judging me. I don’t put on a full face of makeup JUST to work out. But sometimes I plan to walk a mile or two during my lunch break. Or sometimes I’m leaving a meeting and then head to a yoga class. These products, I’m thinking, are perfect for the professional women who will likely already have some kind of makeup on their face and they need said makeup to not roll in the deep. You know what I mean, right? Generally when I head out for a run or do some workouts at home, I don’t wear anything.

Okay, maybe eyeliner but I look dead without eyeliner so…yeah.

Eyeko Sport Waterproof mascara

Eyeko Sport Waterproof Mascara – I never officially reviewed this mascara but WHOA! I received it for review some months ago and remember popping it out of its packing to test before an insanely hot and humid run. This stuff held up. And unbelievably so. I have since repurchased it as I find that it provides a decent amount of volume and I love how easily it applies. But in terms of truly lasting during a very hor and sweaty workout? Yes girl. Yasssss!

Urban Decay Zero – I know, y’all. I brag about this brand of eyeliner all the freaking time. Sorry, not sorry because this eyeliner is the absolute best. Once upon a time Sally Hansen had a brand of eyeliners that were impeccable and the black was neck and neck with UD’s Zero but it got discontinued and so I continue to be a dummy and spend a pretty penny on this expensive eyeliner. It does not budge. Smear a bit? Nope. Disappear completely without you wanting it to? Naw. It stays. Until you remove it. Period.

MAC's Face & Body Foundation

MAC’s Studio Face & Body Foundation – Okay girls, I’m not even going to front. I have not found a foundation that can stand up to my Sweaty McLovely ways. I sweat like whoooooa and for this reason, I usually opt for no concealer/powder if I know I’m going to be getting a workout in. Plus, I find that if I do wear something, I end up wiping it off in a matter of seconds. And truthfully, it would creep me out if a foundation lasted through a serious workout. I’ve heard MAC’s Face & Body Foundation can be pretty bulletproof and while I’ve never used it, it’s on the list because many of makeup artist friends swear by this stuff. Full coverage foundations scare me a little but if you’re a brave chica who has to get her workout in before a meeting and don’t feel like lugging ALL of your makeup to the gym restroom, I’m thinking this stuff may be up your alley.

NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Primer – Eye shadow is another item that I steer clear from if I know I’m going to be working out. But I’m the kind of person that can’t sit in her office the entire 8 hours a day. I’m always getting up and like to clock in a good mile of casual walking each day. Said walking is sometimes done outside and ugh, Florida’s humidity is awful. That said, this primer does a darn good job at staying up. It really is one of the best primers eva!!

Mehron Barrier Spray – This is one of my those products that you likely wouldn’t know much about unless you’re in the makeup industry. Stage/theater makeup artists swear by this stuff because hello, if this can work well for very active actors and actresses under hot lights, surely it can work for professional chicas trying to get a quick workout in. And it does!
